OC Podcasters MeetUp & Fox Sports Grill

I had a great time at the MeetUp for OC Podcasters as usual.  However, I had another sub-par experience at Fox Sports Grill. All the staff there is great.  Actually, really nice people.  The only problem is I can never find anything good on the menu.

To date I have had the turkey burger, by the way the best one at the spectrum is at the Yardhouse, the buffalo chicken burger, which was extremely hot.  It came with onion rings that were more like onion strings (very limp and not crispy at all).  The fries there are good.

Also, although I am not a big beer drinker I do really like the Blue Moon beer they have there on tap.  I have also had the sliders there, they are ok, but not really good.  I’m just trying to find something that is very good there.  I once tried the chicken fingers, reasoning that no one can really screw those up.  But once again they were not what I was expecting.  I really want to find something good at this place since it seems that many groups I meet friends/collegues like to eat here.  Can anyone reccomend something on the menu that is REALLY good?

Veggie Grill

V-Burger and KaleI’ve been visiting a new restaurant near UCI before my ASP.Net class. It is called the Veggie Grill. So far I have tried the fried chicken sandwich, its not really chicken since this is a vegetarian place. I also tried the V-Buger which is a vegetarian burger. It is really good. The meal comes with coleslaw, but since I’ve never been a fan of coleslaw I always ask to substitute something else. Their choices for subsitutes are: sweet potatoe fries, smokin’ kale and a side salad. I have tried all the options and like the kale the best. I actually had that tonight (pictured).

Food Monday

Today while trolling the blogs I found two food reviews.  All very close to home.  Check out the Tea Station (yes, they serve food too) and 99 Ranch Market, its not just a grocery store.

The Cravery

Today Will, Tim and I all went to the Cravery.  It was okay, but not what I was expecting.  The pie I had was good (Classic Chicken), just wish it was a little larger with more filling.  It was enough to satisfy, but I was expecting more.  The flavor was a bit lacking.  I would eat there again though.  Glad I finally had a chance to eat at this place.  See Monster Munching‘s review here.  And visit the Cravery online here.

The Wheel of Life: Part II

Tonight Michelle and I returned to the Wheel of Life resturant in Irvine. But tonight we went armed with the knowledge that the Stuffed Tofu Surprise was not great, and that we did like the Sweet and Sour Pork, very much!

So this time we ordered three dishes. We agreed that we both liked the Sweet and Sour Pork and that was a must have, but we both wanted to pick out something new as well. Here is what we ordered:

Michelle chose the Brocilli Beef (not real beef, remember this place is vegiterian).

And of course we got the Sweet and Sour Pork…

And lastly (we really liked this) Spicy Chicken:

The Wheel of Life

Michelle and I tried a new restaurant last night. Having read a nutrition book just before our last vacation and hearing all the wonderful information about tofu, Michelle thought it would be a good idea to go out to a restaurant that had many tofu dishes, so we can find out what we like and then try to replicate it at home. And so, we visited a restaurant called “The Wheel of Life”. Michelle had been there before, but I had not. We decided to each order something different and eat “family-style”, each sharing each others meal. We ordered the Stuffed Tofu Surprise and the Sweet and Sour Pork (not real pork). The Sweet and Sour Pork was really good. Tasted like the real thing. The Stuffed Tofu Surprise was more of a mystery than a surprise. We couldn’t identify the mystery green herbs in the top of each crispy tofus square. It was okay, but not good. I would not order it again. The other guest in the restaurant all seemed to both us, very hippie-ish. All skinny mostly younger women. Skinny is good that means this place is probably healthy. The fact that so many people were there was also good as far as I was concerned.
