LA Galaxy News

Coaching transitions – hopefully will conclude the seven game winless streak. Cobi Jones will be stepping in as the interim coach.

The strongest players on the LA Galaxy are forwards: David Beckham and Landon Donovan.

Ruud Gullit has resigned as coach of the slumping Los Angeles Galaxy for personal reasons, and president/general manager Alexi Lalas also is out of a job.

The Galaxy play Chivas USA on Thursday night (Aug. 14).

Most Popular Internet Activity

According to the study, nearly 50% of internet users use search engines like Google or Yahoo on a daily basis – substantially more than the number of people who check news (39%) or the weather (30%). While search still falls behind Email use, which holds steady at 60%, it is showing significantly more growth. In the six year span between January 2002 and May 2008, search use increased by 69%, while Email use grew only 15% during the same period.

I=PAT….Overpopulation and Overconsumption

I=PAT is

the size of the population (P) is multiplied by the average affluence or consumption per individual (A), and that in turn is multiplied by some measure of the technology (T) that services and drives the consumption. Thus commuting in automobiles powered by subsidized fossil fuels on proliferating freeways creates a much greater T factor than commuting on bikes using simple paths or working at home on a computer network. The product of P, A, and T is Impact (I), a rough estimate of how much humanity is degrading the ecosystem services it depends upon.

This is a very well written and extremely thought provoking article on overpopulation and overconsumption.  It is worth your time to read.

Hypercolor is hot again

Remember when you could change the color of your clothes just by touching them? That ’90s heat-activated trend is back.
By Erin Weinger, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

THE ’80s have been mined so thoroughly, so deeply, it’s come to this: Hypercolor is back.

Generra Sportswear created the craze in ’91, with heat-sensitive
T-shirts that changed colors like magic. Touch a purple shirt and leave
a pink fingerprint; boogie down and your green tee would be splotched
with bright yellow hot spots.
